Hartford Monday Night Jazz – July 8th, 2013

The Hartford Jazz Society opened the 46th season of Monday Night Jazz at Bushnell Park on July 8th , now considered the Oldest Free, Continuously Run Jazz Festival in the Nation started in 1967 by jazz bassist, Paul Brown. The Hartford Jazz Society took over production of the event in 2008 with a commitment to remain true to Paul Brown’s goals of access for inner city residents, diversity, quality and economic development.     richard mcghee enjoy ct live

The evening was capped off with Mario Pavone & The Orange Double Tenor Septet. Bassist Pavone put together a seasoned group of musicians who played a varied range of eclectic Jazz tunes both old and new.

Monday Night Jazz will run through August 12th this Summer at Bushnell Park. Parking is available at the Capitol parking lot. Truly a very nice way to spend a Summer’s eve.
