Ed Fast is very involved in Connecticut’s jazz scene, and has been playing since he was in junior high.  Fast began his relationship with Latin jazz through marimba lessons and soon picked up the vibes.  Growing up listening to jazz heroes such as Milt Jackson and Cal Tjader, Fast evolved into a knowledgeable jazz musician.

Fast became a teacher of  Latin Jazz at The Hartt School of Music, Fast works with a variety of age groups to build skillset and community through jazz.  The hands-on classes work with a wide array of instruments including  the conga, bongo, timbale, clave and guiro.  Students learn about Latin Jazz harmony, voicing, bass function, and improvisation through the study of music for mallet instruments.

Fast had played with The Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, and Paul Anka.  He has also toured with Broadway roadshows throughout China, Japan and South Korea.

Jorge Fuentes’ percussion skills intertwine with Fast’s to create a hypnotic rhythm .
