What about playing music makes you happy?

Music makes me happy because I make a sound happening.  Music makes me happy because I express my soul.  I can feel am the vehicle of divine energy.  I love Art.  In any case, I am happy no matter what.

What are your hopes for your future in live music?

I plan to do the same thing as I am doing right now: Play with my band and play for and with different musicians and bands, create and sharing with others.

What other acts/musicians do you regularly play with?

Regularly can be once a year or once a week so, here are some of regulars:

Larry Coryell, Bob Baldwin, Grand Baton, JC Maillard, Essouna, Ken Gioffre Group, Dave Anderson Group, Fresque Musical, Jerry Z, Bill Evans, Mark Egan, Tony Purrone, Harvie S, Chip Jackson, Burr Johnson, Fred Yonnet, Kip Sophos, Philippe Saisse, Santi Debriano, Gil Parris, Kofo The Wonderman, Bill Harris, Don Harris, Joyce Dicamillo, Tommy McDonnell, Jon Fumasoli, Bernie Williams, Rob Ross Blues Trio, Roger Ball, Lew Soloff, Rob Aries etc.

What has been your favorite performance so far?

All of them basically. With my band, last Monday with Fresque Musical, Tuesdays at Pete’s Saloon in Elmsford, NY for the Kip Sophos’ Tuesday Jam Nights. Jamming with BB King at Montreux jazz fest. few years ago was unbelievable. Jean-Luc Ponty. All the shows in a European tour with Larry Coryell and Mark Egan Trio. Joe Beck Trio. Shows with Grand Baton. Essouna’s performances. Etc. Basically all the performances I play are my favorites. The favorite performance is the one I play at the moment I play it.

Who are some of your favorite musicians?

All my friends and Lyle Mays, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Kaushiki Chakrabarty, Allan Holsworth, Philippe Saisse, Stevie Wonder, Alanis Morissette, Terje Rypdal and of course, Miles Davis, James Brown, John Coltrane, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan, Uum Kulthum, Joe Zawinul, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Igor Stravinsky, Beethoven etc.  I like a lot of musicians, in different styles.

What is your favorite instrument to play? Why?

Drums.  Because I was born in a bass drum.  :)   I played drums all my life.  I can feel these drums, cymbals and me, are one. I also love to play the piano, but with drums I can express what I want to express.  I can feel free behind my set.
